泰戈尔《吉檀迦利》之八
原文；
     The child who is decked with prince's robes and who has jewelled chains round his neck loses all pleasure in his 
  play;his dress hampers him at every step.
      In fear that it may be frayed,or stained with dust he keeps himself from the world,and is afraid even to move.
      Mother,it is no gain,thy bondage of finery,if it keep one shut off from the healthful dust of the earth,if it rob one 
  of the right of entrance to the great fair of common human life.

译文
     那个孩子啊
     全身都是王子的袍服装扮，
     脖子上挂着宝链珠光闪闪，
     当他玩耍时，
     却毫无乐趣可言，
     他迈出去的每一步，
     都有他的衣衫将他羁绊。

     害怕衣衫损坏，
     又怕尘埃沾染，
     他把自己关起来，
     离得这个世界这么远，
     甚至连动一下，
     也要心惊胆颤。

     妈妈，
     你那美饰华服的裹缚，
     绝非得益之处，
     如果，
     它把一个人，
     从大地上充满生机的滚滚红尘中彻底隔阻，
     如果，
     它剥夺了一个人的权利，
     让人眼看着芸芸众生的盛大聚会，
     却无由得入。
