离 别
从村口抽出的小路
仿佛二胡上脱落的一根弦
被风拉出绵长的忧伤
寒冷冻结了
挂在眼角一滴泪
一场雪落在母亲头顶
终年不化

Leave-taking
The road drawn from the village gateway
Is like a string fallen off from an Er-hu fiddle
On which the lingering sorrow is pulled off by the wind
Cold freezes
A drop of tear hanging in the eye corner
A snowfall falls on Mother's head
And never thaws all year round

初 春
半钱春风
打通渭河的经脉
阳光铺开八百里秦川
细雨挥毫随意涂抹
鸟的叫声
藏在终南山的背后
一朵桃花
占尽二月的风头

Early Spring
Half mace* of spring breeze
Clears the meridians of Weihe River
Sunshine unrolls the vast plain of Qinchuan
Fine rain is doodling
Birds' twitters
Hidden behind Zhongnan Mountain
A peach blossom
Has snatched the limelight of March.

梨 花
一朵搂住一朵
一片抱紧一片
仿佛涨潮的大海
一个浪接着一个浪
推向远方
故乡像一只小船
载着一片月光靠近码头
船舱里走出
一个熟悉的身影

Pear Flowers
One blossom cuddling another
One petal hugging another
Like the sea with rising tides
A wave after another wave
Piling into the distance
Hometown is like a boat
Approaching the dock with a slice of moonshine
Out of the cabin
Appears a familiar figure


杏 花
携一抹淡红
从唐诗宋词里探出头来
像一群乡下的疯丫头
任性地盛开着
把一缕清香拴在树梢
让过路的阳光
心甘情愿倒在石榴裙下
没有一片叶子
能与她门当户对

Apricot Flowers
With a touch of blush
Appearing from Tang and Song poetry
Like a bevy of crazy country girls
They bloom wantonly
Tying a wisp of fragrance atop the tree
For the passing sunshine
To prostrate willingly to a red skirt
Not a single leaf
Can be matched with her

公 墓
自从南塬上建了公墓
几年功夫
村里的老人
一个跟着一个搬了过去
墓地像一只越喂越肥的老虎
大口大口地撕咬着往事
咽下一堆名字
村庄像几根骨头
散落在人间

Public Cemetery
Since a public cemetery is built on the south plateau
In a few years
Older folks in the village
One by one has moved over
The cemetery is like a tiger fattened on feeding
Chews the past in big mouthfuls
And swallows a pile of names
Villages, like a few bones
Scattered in the mortal world

紫砂壶
装着春天一声鸟鸣
也装着秋天一滴露水
人生那些不顺心的往事
都在圆鼓鼓的肚子里装着
有泪也有血
一张嘴
道不尽世间悲喜

A Dark-red Clay Teapot
A bird's twitter of spring
A dewdrop of autumn
And the unpleasant past moments in life
Are all stored in the bulging belly
Mixed with tears and blood
Upon pouring
Out flows endless mortal joys and sorrows

看尽世俗百态
几根指头
为人性把脉
手提木箱独行江湖
吹、唱、捧、拍
一张祖传的秘方
医治百病

A Veteran Doctor of Chinese Medicine
By looking and listening
Querying and feeling the pulse
He has seen the worldly faces
A few fingers
Get the pulse of humanity
With a wooden box, alone he walks
Blow, sing, boost, and tab; such treatments
A sheet of secret formula from family legacy
Cures a hundred diseases

春 雨
天空挂满了吊瓶
一滴一滴
心急吃不了热豆腐
像一场正在发生的爱情
这病入膏肓的大地
需要一剂良药
慢慢地
医治

Spring Rain
The sky is full of IV bottles
Dripping and dropping
Haste makes waste
Like a love affair in progress
The great earth sick with fatal illness
Is in needs of an antidote
To slowly
Get cured

早 春
俏皮的风
扭动着诱人的屁股
踩过麦苗铺开的绿地毯
在阳光下走秀
梦把淡妆浓抹的江南春色
一趟接着一趟
卸在故乡的小站
一片桃花
挤上黎明的头条

Early Spring
The saucy wind
In seductive sways its buttocks move
Treading over the green carpet wheat fields roll out
Putting on a show in the sunshine
The dream unloads the southern spring with heavy or light makeup
Time and again
At the hometown station
A cluster of peach blossoms
Press themselves on dawn's headline

初 春
春风忙前忙后
吆喝着
雷的干咳惊动了黎明
花花草草
顺从季节的指令
阳光闲得没事
坐在黄昏
与一只鸟聊了半天

Early Spring
Spring breeze is bustling about
hawking
Thunder's dry coughs wake up morning
Flowers and grass
Obey season's order
With nothing to do, the bored sunshine
Sitting in dusk
Chats with a bird for half a day

周 未
鸟儿尽管闹腾着
蜜蜂扇动着小翅膀
从东家蹿到西家
阳光把日子潦草地誊写了一遍
我倒像个多余的人
在一串无人拨打的号码里
活着
白白地消磨了
一寸光阴

Weekend
Birds are busy
Bees are flapping their little wings
Flitting from one house to the next
Carelessly, the sunshine copies the days
I am like but a redundant man
Living
In a string of numbers never dialed
Kill an inch
Of time

时 光
时光雁过拔毛
薅光了
一头白发
用一把生锈的刻刀
把年龄在额头
不停涂改
村旁的麦田己经返青
我的一亩三分地
寸草不生

Time
Time squeezes wherever possible
And has pulled out
The entire crown of gray hairs
And with a rusty knife
Changes the age none stop
On the forehead
The wheat fields by the village have again greened
While my small private plot
Is bare and barren

向日葵
或阴或晴
总跟在太阳屁股后边溜
挺直的腰杆
扛不起
越来越重的孤独
低下头
却找不见自己的路

The Sunflower
Sunny or cloudy
The sunflower always tags along the sun
The stalk it straightens
Fails to carry
Its increasingly heavy solitude
Yet lowering its head
It cannot find its own path

龙抬头
我故意把头抬起
摸出一条紧夹的尾巴
长长地
嘘了一口气
此时的天空真蓝
蓝得
让人忘记了脚下的路

Dragon's Head-Raising *
Knowingly I raise my head
To fish out a tucked tail between the legs
Producing
A long sigh
The sky is now so blue
That
People forget the road under their feet


小 镇
桃花到此一游
弄出一些风流韵事
杏花依旧出墙
招蜂惹蝶
梨花暗自与黄昏较劲
小镇被鸟的叫声
越包越紧

A Small Town
A visit of peach blossoms to this place
Brings forth some love affairs
Apricot blossoms still branch out of the wall
To attract bees and butterflies
Pear blossoms secretly vie against dusk
By bird twitters
The small town is enveloped
Tighter and tighter
